Biography
With a Master’s in Biomedical Science, Grant is a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with 29 years experience working in clinical diagnostic laboratories. Grant has a multi-disciplinary background but chose to specialize in clinical microbiology working in laboratory and transformational management roles during his career.
As the Operational and Laboratory Manager, Grant is responsible for delivering aspects of both operational support and laboratory management for the Earlham Institute. He works closely with the business support team and the shared service partnership to provide building and support services to the Institute. Grant is also responsible for ensuring the safe operations of the Science Faculty, Biofoundry, Genomics Pipelines and containment Level II laboratories. Grant describes his role as extremely varied and rewarding as he works to support Earlham’s strategic science programmes and scientific platforms delivering Genomics and Single Cell Analysis as well as the wide and diverse range of scientific research.
Grant previously worked at the Earlham Institute as Team Lead for the LAMP testing programme for the diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2.
