Applications are invited for a Research Assistant to join the Single-cell and Spatial Analysis Team in the laboratory of Dr Iain Macaulay at the Earlham Institute, based in Norwich, UK.

Background:

The Single-cell and Spatial Analysis team at Earlham Institute is responsible for the delivery of a wide range of projects for both internal and external collaborators and customers. 

The group has access to cutting-edge facilities for single-cell analysis supported by exceptional sequencing and computational capabilities, and is embedded within the research group of Iain Macaulay.

The role:

This role involves the provision of support for projects using single-cell genomics and spatial analysis at the Earlham Institute. 

The successful applicant will work closely with single-cell team members and platform users to generate sequencing libraries from single-cells, using either 10X Genomics or plate based approaches (e.g. Smart-seq2, G&T-seq) for projects both within the institute but also with external collaborators. 

Working within our single-cell genomics group, the post holder will liaise with our single-cell and spatial analysis platform manager and Technical Genomics teams to bring projects from cell isolation through to sequencing and analysis.

They will also be involved in the development and application of new technologies relating to single-cell genomics, including spatial transcriptomics and alternative high-throughput single-cell analyses.

The ideal candidate:

The successful candidate will have a postgraduate degree or equivalent experience in genomics / single-cell genomics and a keen interest in applying new technologies in cellular genomics to resolve a wide array of biological questions.  

Good communication and organisation skills with the ability to work independently are also required.

Additional information:

Salary on appointment will be within the range £36,000 to £39,750 per annum depending on qualifications and experience.

This is a full-time maternity cover post expected to last for 14 months, this could be shorter or longer depending on when the employee returns to work.
